Most toothpaste is a plastic tube of water, foaming detergent, and sweetener. Ours is a glass jar of clay and botanical oils, made in small batches the old way — a short list you can read out loud.

Every ingredient explained, plus use & care tips, in the sections below. Available in 4 oz or 1 oz glass jars.

Ingredients & what they do

Food-grade bentonite clay — the gentle mineral cleaner at the heart of the formula. It polishes plaque and surface stains while staying gentler than the hydrated silica in most commercial toothpaste, and it is where the natural grey color comes from.

Organic cold-pressed coconut oil — one of the two traditional oil-pulling oils in the base. Keeps the paste smooth and helps freshen breath.

Baking soda (water processed) — a very mild alkaline cleaner that helps lift stains and neutralize odor.

Organic cold-pressed black cumin seed oil (Nigella sativa) — the star of the formula, used for thousands of years and studied for its compound thymoquinone. We use cold-pressed, unrefined oil because refined versions lose much of it.

Organic cold-pressed sesame oil — the other classic oil-pulling oil, rounding out the base.

Organic essential oils of peppermint, spearmint, clove bud and wintergreen — all the flavor, no artificial sweeteners needed.

Not in it: no fluoride, no SLS or SLES, no glycerin, no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or dyes — and no plastic tube, just a reusable glass jar.

How to use & care

Dip a damp brush into the jar, or scoop a pea-sized amount with a small clean spoon. Brush gently for two minutes, twice a day, then rinse.

It will not foam — foam is just detergent, not cleaning. Most people get used to the quieter clean within a few brushes.

The oils can separate a little in warm weather, and the paste can firm up over time — exactly like natural peanut butter. A quick stir or a drop of water on your brush brings it right back.

Store with the lid tight, at room temperature, away from heat and sunlight.

For young children, use a small pea-sized amount and supervise brushing — as with any toothpaste, spit, do not swallow.

FAQ

How long does a jar last? Brushing twice a day, the 4 oz jar lasts about 2 to 3 months. The 1 oz travel jar lasts around 3 weeks.

Why does it not foam? Foam in regular toothpaste comes from SLS, a detergent that creates bubbles but does not clean. We leave it out on purpose — the clean comes from the clay and baking soda, not the suds.

Why is it grey? That is the natural color of bentonite clay. No charcoal, no dyes, nothing added for looks.

Can my kids use it? Yes — it is made for the whole family. Use a small pea-sized amount for young children and supervise brushing. As with any toothpaste: spit, do not swallow.

How fast is shipping? Orders ship the same business day from Los Angeles. Most US orders arrive in 2-5 business days via USPS.
